Chosen By God - Verse of the Day : Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.
-Ephesians 1:4

Daily Bible Reading Plan

Morning : Ephesians 1

Evening : 2 Chronicles 7-9

Chosen By God

God has chosen everyone of us, knowing who we are and calling us by our names, even before the world was even formed. God forknew each of us. Since He foreknew us before the world began, He had also planned the steps to take in His preparation for our life and destiny.

In Romans 8:29-30, Paul said, "For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified."

God's predestination is based on His foreknowledge. Predestination and foreknowledge are inseparable. As God knows all things, He plans each and everyone's life accordingly.

However, God gives everyone an opportunity to receive eternal life through salvation. He does not predestine anyone to go to hell. Jesus died on the cross for every human soul. Nonetheless, God also knows who will love and accept Him, and also those that will reject Him.

So, why did God choose us and what is the purpose for our life?

June 18 - Chosen By God - Christian Daily Devotions

(1) "That we should be holy." To be holy means to be seperated from the world. It involves separation from worldliness and the works of the devil and the flesh.

(2) "Without blame." To be without blame means to be "without blemish". To be totally clean in our service, our walk, our love for God, our will and our mind-- we are washed by obeying His Word (Eph. 5:26).

(3) "Before Him in love." It basically means to have a loving relationship with God. We must not forget that the relationship between God (who is love Himself) and His children (believers) is rooted in love.

Imagine yourself being a parent. Would you be happy if your child has got good manners, obedient, clean but does not love you? How would you be feeling? There will never be joy or satisfaction in your heart unless your child really loves you.

What a parent wants more than anything else in his child is his love. So does our Father in heaven. What He wants more than anything else is for us to love Him with all our hearts.
