Can Your Hear The Holy Spirit's Small Still Voice?

How does the Holy Spirit Speak? Are You Listening To The Small Still Voice Of The Holy Spirit?

As a christian led the Holy Spirit, you will recognize His voice. You respond to His voice.

And the more you spend time with Him, the closer and deeper the relationship between you and God becomes.

The Holy Spirit is the one who communicates the voice of God.

Small Still Voice of the Holy Spirit

"and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a small still voice."
-1 Kings 19:12 (NKJV)

It was the voice of the Holy Spirit speaking to Elijah.

How is His small still voice different from God the Father?

The book of Job records the description of the Father's voice.

"Hear attentively the thunder of His voice, And the rumbling that comes from His mouth... After it a voice roars; He thunders with His majestic Voice.... God thunders marvelously with His voice...."
-Job 37:2, 4-5 (NKJV)

You can see that God the Father's voice is like a roaring thunder!

In the new testament scriptures, only 3 times did the bible actually record God the Father speaking. The first time our Heavenly Father spoke to John the Baptist,

"And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
-Matthew 3:17 (NKJV)

The second time God the Father spoke was when Jesus was with Peter, James and John on a high mountain.

"While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!" And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid."
-Matthew 17:5-6 (NKJV)

It was so loud and terrifying that the disciples fell down and were fearful.

The last record of God the Father speaking was recorded in the Book of John, when Jesus prayed to God to glorify His name.

""Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came from heaven, saying, "I have glorified it and will glorify it again." Therefore the people who stood by it said that it had thundered..."
-John 12:28-29 (NKJV)

There are many instances in the old testament where the prophets heard the small still voice of the Holy Spirit, not the Father or the Son.

God was speaking to the prophet Isaiah,

"Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." And He said," Go, and tell this people: "Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive." "Make the heart of this people dull, And their ears heavy, And shut their eyes; Lest they see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And return and be healed."
-Isaiah 6:8-10 (NKJV)

Who is this voice of the Lord which spoke to the prophet Isaiah? Was it God the Father? Jesus the Son? Or was it the Holy Spirit's small still voice? Let's study the bible together in the book of Acts of the New Testament.

While apostle Paul was in Rome, guarded by a soldier, said,

"So when they did not agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had said one word: "The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through ISaiah the prophet to our fathers, saying, "Go to this people and say: "Hearing you will hear, and shall not understand; And seeing you will see, and not perceive; For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them."
-Acts 28:26-27 (NKJV)

Paul himself stated that it was the Holy Spirit who spoke who had spoken to the prophet Isaiah. It was the Spirit's small still voice which Isaiah heard.

When Will The Holy Spirit Speak To You In A Small Still Voice?

As a christian, I never knew realized that the Holy Spirit Himself is God, Equal to the Father and Jesus. When I understood who He really is, my spiritual life took on a totally different dimension.

Millions and millions of people, like I once was, in one way or another, was led to belief that the Holy Spirit is lesser than God.

That is not true at all! The truth is the Holy Ghost is God! He is no less than our dear heavenly Father and Jesus the Son. He is equal with Them!

When God the Father wants to speak to you, He speaks through the small still voice of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus sent out His twelve disciples, He said,

"for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you."
-Matthew 10:20 (NKJV)

We are frequently warned by Jesus in the book of Revelations,

"He who has ears, let him hear what the Spirit says..."
-Revelations 2:7,11,17 (NKJV)

Who does Jesus wants us to listen to? It is the voice of the Holy Spirit, His small still voice.

Is it clear to you now that it is the Holy Spirit who brings the word of God into your heart? To put it in one line, it is the Father, through Jesus, speaking by the Spirit to us. It is the small still voice of the Holy Ghost that we hear.

You have already learnt that what would happen if God the Father spoke to you directly. You would be trembling and shaking.

How about Jesus? I doubt that we will be able to hear His voice as well. The voice of Jesus was described as,

"His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters;"
-Revelations 1:15 (NKJV)

When John heard and saw Jesus, he fell as dead,

"And when i saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead..."
-Revelations 1:17 (NKJV)

When Jesus revealed Himself to Paul on the Damascus Road, Paul became blind for 3 days.

"Then Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one... And he was three days without sight..."
-Acts 9:8-9 (NKJV)

The Holy Spirit, however, takes the voice of Jesus the Son and God the Father and makes it lovely, quiet and into a perfectly clear small still voice.

After I begin to know the Holy Spirit mroe and more, and that He is God, I began to worship Him and treat Him with my deepest respect and love. I no longer ignored the Holy Spirit who loves me and yearns for my communion.

How does the Holy Spirit speak? He speaks to our conscience. His small still voice witnesses to your soul. When Paul wrote to christians in ROme, he said,

"I tell you the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit,"
-Romans 9:1 (NKJV)

We should never doubt the leading of the Holy Spirit. When you feel your spirit is distressed or troubled, don't proceed. If we try to be our own guide, we will definitely fail. Listen to the small still voice of the Holy Spirit who always lead us on the perfect and righteous path of a christian.

The world, the friends, even your closest family members do not understand the slightest bit about the matters of the Kingdom and how the Holy Spirit works. That is because they are spiritually blind. But you will know and understand.

Why? Because you are learning to recognize His voice and being led by Him.

Dispell the notion right now about the Holy Spirit being less equal to the Father and the Son. But He is the power behind creation, and the voice behind our Father and Jesus.

Submit to the Holy Spirit, and see your breakthrough in your walk with God, your finances and your relationships with your family and friends!

Let's pray with me.

Dear Father in heaven, how great is Your glory and love.

I thank you for your Holy Spirit and I ask in faith that you fill us with your precious Spirit.

Open up our spiritual eyes to hear from your Holy Ghost. Let us be so sensitive to His small still voice.

Holy Spirit Guide us in whatever we do. Let us not walk out of your will and purpose for our lives.

Continue to lead us over the devil and towards a victorious christian life! Amen.
